ALICIA’S POSTPARTUM PACKAGES

My packages include my support and expertise as a Prenatal and Postpartum Chef, Certified Lactation Counselor, Postpartum Doula, Embodiment Educator and Herbalist.

I have now supported over 80 families through the sacred First Forty Days. I consider it an honor to be with families during this miraculous time.

Packages:

My packages are customized to my clients needs and range from 30 -100+ hours of in-person support.

The 30 hour minimum package includes once session per week for the first five weeks postpartum. Whenever possible, I recommend families have support for at least 6 weeks, or through the First Forty Days.

For families who would like more robust support, two sessions per week might be ideal. For others, longer term support through the entire 4th Trimester is essential. I also sometimes can offer prenatal support in the weeks or months leading up to birth. Packages are customized to suit your needs.

Prices on all packages are provided by phone or email.

Sessions:

All sessions are approximately 6 hours long.

For many families, I work primarily as a Postpartum Chef and Nutrition Expert, cooking delicious, nutrient-dense postpartum appropriate foods in your home.

For other families, especially first time parents, I may also be supporting you as a full spectrum postpartum doula and lactation counselor. If so, different needs arise on different days. As a result some days may be slightly longer, some may be shorter.  Time is approximate and flexible; hours are deducted from the package by quarter hour.  This allows me to be fully present to your needs as new parents.

For Postpartum Chef support, each session includes:

  • Preparation of two “main”dishes in significant quantities - about 6-8 servings depending on the dish. Soups, stews, broths and other soft, nutrient-dense foods are favored for the postpartum period for their healing and hydrating properties and because they are gentle on the digestive system. Red meat mains include slow cooked stews, roasts or meatballs, usually made with 2lbs of meat depending on the type of dish. These are slow cooked refined stews that take 3h to prepare and the entire day to stew. Main dishes might also be a vegetarian, poultry, fish or frittatas which are a specialty of mine. Vegetarian dishes include Dahl, lentils, pureed soups like a butternut squash soup and grain dishes generally.

  • Preparation of one to two “side” dishes, snacks or a simple healthy postpartum sweet, such as a roasted vegetables, a sweet potato or parsnip mash, rice pudding, gluten free breads/muffins, greens, salads or specialty drinks like my homemade strawberry lime electrolytes.

  • 2 herbal infusions for drinking throughout the week (8 cups each, dried herbs included in package)

  • My ongoing advice and expertise on postpartum foods, drinks and practices and menu planning each week based on the specific needs of your unique postpartum body (accounting for things such as blood loss, milk production or digestive concerns).

  • Herbal advice and preparations as needed, such as sitz baths, peri-bottles, compresses and the use of tinctures if the need arises for more in depth herbal support.

For Chef/Doula/Newborn Feeding Packages (recommended for all first time parents), I also provide the following at each session.

    • Collaborative, flexible, nutrition-centered postpartum doula care and lactation support as needed. I usually spend the first twenty minutes of each day checking-in with you either alone or with your family before I begin cooking, from there we talk about your needs as they arise each week.

    • Newborn education, with a focus on understanding baby’s needs for co-regulation from parents, soothing techniques, the importance of skin-to-skin care, help navigating baby’s sleeping patterns and needs.

    • Hands-on lactation support at each feeding, as needed, education about newborn sleep cycles, newborn behavior and needs and referrals to IBCLC’s and other perinatal professionals and resources as needed. For first time parents who I am working very intensely with as a lactation counselor, I provide regular phone support throughout the package.

    All packages also includes:

  • My time for being on call for the above from weeks 38-42

  • Food shopping online or by phone. (Time spent grocery shopping for you online is complementary, however please note that in-person shopping at your request or for items not purchased in advance will be deducted by the hour).

  • In addition, we will also have 2-3 complementary calls during your pregnancy, which can take place by voice, Facetime or Zoom.

  • Text and phone support within reason from weeks 38 of your pregnancy through the end of our package.

  • For first time parents, a 2 hour newborn feeding and postpartum preparation class (additional fee applies).

Other areas of expertise and services offered by request.  If these are of interest on a specific week, either I will cook less food or the days we explore them will be longer.

  • Restorative touch and Abhyanga (Ayurvedic-style bodywork with warm oils and essential oils) to increase circulation, lymphatic drainage and rejuvenate the nervous system.

  • Time holding and soothing your baby while you sleep or see to other needs (only if you would like or need, otherwise I prioritize your care so that you and or your family members can be with baby.)
