Homemade Citrus + Coconut Electrolytes

This is a recipe for a tall 64 ounce (8 cup) mason jar…

ingredients:

1 cup of fresh squeezed juice: from oranges or other sweet fruits (see note below)

1/2 cup of fresh lemon or lime

Any combo of fresh juice can work. Lemon, lime, orange are my favorites. I have also used blended strawberries and pineapple (blend in a Vitamix or high speed blender), as well as grapefruit. If you use juice that isn't citrus (aka strawberry, pinapple) know it will be considerably sweeter.

One16 ounce bottle of Harmless Harvest Coconut Water (optional if you’d like it less sweet)

Coconut water is a natural electrolyte, however if this makes it too sweet you can leave it out

1 tsp of high quality Himalayan pink salt or other high quality salt

2 teaspoons of high quality raw honey (optional if you'd like less sweet)

Honey will still raise blood sugar, but not in the same way as other sugars as it is slowly released over time. It is best to buy raw honey that is stored in glass.

Directions:

Squeeze fresh juice by hand or with a blender, then all the juice to the mason jar.

Add up to 16 oz coconut water.

Bring a small amount of water to a boil, then add the salt and the honey to the hot water to dissolve both (4-8 ounces is plenty).

Fill the remaining half of the jar with water (leave a little space for the water/salt/honey mixture).

Add the hot water/salt/honey mixture.

Shake well.

Taste to see if you want to adjust the flavor.

Store in the fridge and drink freely.
