Alicia Allison is an Embodiment Educator, Herbalist, Wellness Chef & Doula with two decades of experience in the healing arts. She holds expertise in working with herbs, whole foods, yoga and breathing practices. She has a rich understanding of the human body, birth and the complex human nervous system.

Since 2012, Alicia has specialized in supporting families and newborn babies in the weeks immediately after birth. Raised by her mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Alicia felt particularly called to this work as a way to empower those creating our next generation. She has now supported over 80 families and newborn babies through the sacred first forty days of life and others through their pregnancies and entire first year postpartum, including supermodel mother and body-positivity activist Ashley Graham.

As a private wellness chef, Alicia creates wholesome meals inspired by various healing traditions and the farm-to-table movement. Ayurveda, western herbal traditions and whole foods nutrition have been an integral part of her own healing. She is known for her nourishing soups and stews and the inclusion of fresh herbs and spices in her dishes. She believes that food is our primary medicine and that eating the right foods mindfully brings ease and strength to one’s existence.

Also a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) through the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice, Alicia is passionate about helping new parents navigate how to feed and comfort their newborns.

Alicia also mentors postpartum doulas in postpartum nutrition and chef support and in 2022 created Nourished, a professional training in postpartum chef support, a first of its kind.

The intimacy and intensity of birthwork has provided Alicia with a unique understanding of how to support people in transformation and transition. Her experiences in this work have also provided her with insight into the importance of our own birth stories and the stories of our lineages.

Alicia’s own healing journey began with the study of Yoga and Ayurveda as a means towards union with the Divine. She will forever be a student of this ancient Indian healing system and it serves as a major guiding and grounding force in her life.

As an Herbalist, Alicia values and integrates modern scientific research of plant medicines, but will always first honor and acknowledge the wisdom that has come to us from folk, indigenous and traditional healers. She continues to cultivate her relationship with plants through life-long study, cooking, wildcrafting and medicine-making; she places great importance on where the herbs she works with come from for both efficacy and ecological preservation.

Alicia currently resides in New York City with her two felines and some very happy houseplants but works with people worldwide. You can regularly find her wandering through parks, cemeteries and art spaces. She has a great love of poetry, language and metaphor and holds utmost respect for the power of friendship.

Alicia’s practice is inclusive, non-judgmental and supportive of all people and all families.
