EARLY POSTPARTUM FOODS
Below you will find the list of foods I tend to favor for roughly the first two weeks postpartum. I often send clients this list in advance and always welcome feedback on what sounds most exciting and appealing, however we will wait until after your baby arrives to decide on the exact menu for each session as dietary needs and cravings can change.
My approach to early postpartum is based on the belief that during this time the body need foods that are easy to digest, grounding, warming, hydrating and rich in high quality fat. What is easy for one person's digestive system can be incredibly challenging for another. To suit the needs of each individual, I offer various types of early postpartum meals all based on the energetics of the ingredients used. It is always helpful for me to know which foods you tend to digest most easily. If there are foods you avoid, please also let me know.
If there is something you are craving postpartum that is not listed here, such as greens, I am always happy to discuss other options or work with seasonal foods. This is not a strict list, though I do recommend staying away from cold, crunchy and raw foods. I believe it is incredibly important for long term healing to favor soups, stews and slow cooked grains and vegetables during this special window of time.
